Burning charcoal

Memorial day slash Lola's & Tita Neri's birthday. I made a strawberry cream cheese pie & pineapple upside down cake. Bounteous amounts of barbecued meats & filipino dishes. It was hot as hades, sticky and humid. Family gatherings have been the same since I was 13 except everyone is older. I still feel like the little kid amongst grown ups. My dad, my 2 uncles & my cousin's bf happened to uncoordinatedly wear straw fedoras. No matter what, any filipino household you go to will have TFC on. Prescribing myself some major cardio. STAT.

Maybe it's because she's a francophile. Maybe because it's in the 60s. Maybe it's the fact that this leading character is brilliant but at the same time rebellious. Maybe it's because Peter Sarsgaard stars in it as well (with a very convincing & charming British accent). Maybe it's the fashion. Maybe it's the addicting score. All I know is...I love it.

Ladies & gentlemen of the internet world, I have officially finished my first year of nursing school. You have no idea how relieved I am to get through this year (especially this second semester). Maternity/Peds was killing me! I was so scared these last few weeks. But I know I should save this fear for next year when I have to tackle Med-Surg. That's a whole 'nother world.

Well anyways I'm just glad the semester's over and that summer has begun. Already I have things to do. Friend's engagement party, poconos, a fundraiser & Six Flags just to name a few.

Honestly I'm just so, so relieved. This weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I can just let myself go and unwind.

FINALLY finished reading 2 chapters (sounds like nothing but they're quite long, thank you).
Well I did take some breaks here & there so that would explain the long delay.

But come on, how would you feel if you were just reading & reading & reading & reading....
