Ribs & burgers, scones & crepes

Another weekend of feasting!

Saturday Cousin Eric turned 30 & had a bbq in Cunningham Park.
When his mom cooks, she really cooks (can you say heaping portions?). Played with a beagle & a jack russell terrier. Managed to slip on a friggin' pine cone while getting touchy with some pigskin. Noticed that the location was the same spot I also had a party with some friends back in high school. And of course partook in some good ol' fashioned gastronomy.

Sunday Brunch with the lovely Alexandra at Alice's Tea Cup.
They had quite the tea selection & a nice array of breakfast food. Went with the ham & gruyere scone and strawberry/blueberry filled crepes topped with chocolate sauce & a side of whipped cream, all washed down with a glass of jasmine green iced tea. Yum. Seriously, YUM. Ended the day at my favorite rock in Central Park (the one at the corner of 5th & 60th). People were taking pictures of us from the path below. Hm, little paparazzi moment heeheehee.

Glastonbury. It's the ultimate music/performance arts festival. This year's featured show lasted 4 days & had 45 stages. And the line up. A ridiculous line-up. It's all the way in jolly ol' England though. The next best thing would be Bamboozle, Summerstage, Siren & Warped. Ahh all this show talk is getting me excited for She & Him next week!

I'm still learning. When I lose my cool or stress myself out over trivial things, I try to tell myself that there are worst situations I could be in. Its just hard to think in the heat of the moment. I guess a couple of bruises, hoarse throats & tired eyes are still required for such lessons. I am still young. If by 30 my mindset is still at that adolescent stage then that's when drastic measures will be taken.

What I would give to make dreams reality. It wasn't even that special but it was still sweet. The awkwardness, the unfamiliarity yet the yearn to rekindle whatever chemistry, whatever bond there was. The kindness, hospitality. I'm trying to remember every detail. The way he lead me around places, the introductions, how he showed this affection to me as if there wasn't this weird barrier between us anymore. How I held on to his arm and just felt that security & comfort again that comes with just being near someone. Was this the sign? No. It could be my subconscious reminding me of my thoughts from the previous day. I'm too cautious to take a risk. Afraid of...rejection?

Caramel-ish?

So this is the change I decide to take for the summer. It may seem somewhat dark but it's lighter in daylight.
I'm ok with it but I'm not 100% satisfied. I'll probably go & get it darker in a week or two.

Backyards, the place to be

Saturday Went to a dual birthday party. Played some flip cup & beer pong. In no way was I going to let something in the past get in the way of being with people, so I went. Witnessed many, many things. I don't know why I was surprised because it's nothing new to me. Probably because I haven't been to one like this in awhile.
Sunday Official FC 4th of July bbq was moved to the 20th of this month due to everyone already having plans that day. Sometimes all you need is good wholesome fun: some board games, great food, silly humor & good-hearted people.

Terriers

Bar hopping in Sunnyside for my friend Ea's 23rd birthday. It's crazy how high school seemed like yesterday. And then you get together after 5 years. We're all grown up.
And it's quite interesting to be around soccer hooligans. They're like a whole new...species.

What have I been up to? Honestly, I've been home because I am broke & most people are busy working so I don't see anyone. But I've been productive. Caught up with my Netflix queue. Catching up with some leisure reading. Working out. I have lost about 10 lbs after 4 weeks of daily workouts & calorie counting. Oh & I am not stopping. I'm kinda on a fitness high. Anyway, moving on. I forced myself to read my Canon Rebel's manual. I think I got aperture & shutter speed & ISO down. I'm itching to go out & test it all out. I went out a few times & caught up with some friends. I want to go to the beach so badly but lately this weather has been out of sorts. Hmm. It's only June.

The product of slow shutter speed & a light saber keychain.

Silver

How can I resist these knuckle rings? This is becoming my new obsession.
The long one is from F21 & the double finger one is from UO. Both reasonably priced ($2.95 & $14.00).

Cab ride

3:11 am. Arm around my shoulders, trying to keep him up. Trying to keep me up. I'm somewhere between jelly & drowsy. We manage to hail a taxi at the light before it turns red. Thankfully the driver knew exactly where Woodhaven was. My sidekick is babbling nonsensical things once we settle. Of course...he had way too much for the night. I answer back just to satisfy him. At this point, I'm pretty tipsy & just want to pass out. I ask him if he's all right. Silence. Snoring. Before I can inch away & lean on my side, he reaches out his arm & wraps it around me. Awkward. But I don't fight it. The fatigue gives in & I instantly meld to his embrace. Somewhere along the Queensboro bridge & the LIE, I'm between dozing & fully awake. He pulls me in closer. I forgot how nice it is to cuddle. The feeling is enhanced with the cool night air & the humming of the car. Before I know it we're at Park Lane & I force myself to wake up. As we turn onto my street, I try to rouse him up. Either because he was short on cash or he was too drunk to look, I end up paying for my ride & his ride home. It's ok. I don't mind. I bid him good night & order him to call me when he gets home. A sheepish nod.

It's sunday morning.
